Meet the Principal
Welcome to West Fannin Elementary School (WFES)! I am both elated and humbled to serve as Principal. I began my teaching career in 2000 and joined West Fannin Elementary in 2003. Since then, I have served in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher in Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades, as well as Assistant Principal. In January 2020, I had the honor of being selected to serve as Principal.
At WFES, our vision is to teach children to build relationships, respect differences, and learn to do hard things. Through our strong STEM culture, students learn to collaborate, persevere, and solve problems creatively—developing skills that prepare them for success both inside and outside the classroom.
West Fannin holds a special place in my heart. As a former student when it was a junior high, returning to teach and now lead at this school has been a full-circle moment. Not only was I a former student — I also had the unique opportunity to teach alongside some of my former teachers. Today, I have the privilege of working with the children of my former students, and many of those former students are now part of our staff. Watching their continued success truly makes this a family. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community that helped shape who I am. Together with our dedicated staff and supportive families, we continue to make WFES a place where every child can thrive.
Meet the Assistant Principal
I’m truly honored and excited to serve as the Assistant Principal at West Fannin Elementary! Being part of the West Fannin family is a privilege, and I’m grateful to work alongside such dedicated students, staff, and families.
My teaching journey began in 1995 in South Carolina, and since then, I’ve had the opportunity to teach at the middle school, high school, and college levels. I joined Fannin County High School in 2005 as a band director, and in 2024, I was honored to step into the role of Assistant Principal here at West Fannin.
I hold a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Georgia, a Master’s degree in Music Performance from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Furman University.
Outside of school, I stay connected to the arts and our community through several roles — I assist with WXFC 92.7 FM, the FCC-licensed radio station operated by the Fannin County Board of Education, and serve as president and conductor of the Tri-State Community Band. I’ve also been deeply honored to receive the FCSS Teacher of the Year award in 2017 and the Bandworld Legion of Honor.
At West Fannin, our vision is to build relationships, respect differences, and learn to do hard things. We believe that challenging, nurturing, and guiding students toward responsibility are all essential parts of a healthy and meaningful education. West Fannin is a truly special and historic school, and I’m proud to be part of its continuing story.
