Counselor's Office

Hello!  My name is Diana Odom and I am the School Counselor at West Fannin Elementary School since October, 2010.  My background is in Mental Health Counseling where I was a Licensed Professional Counselor before changing over to the School System.  Here at West Fannin, our Counseling program offers multiple services.  I teach the Second Step program which teaches Social Emotional Learning to each classroom weekly.  There are 20 lessons that cover Emotion Management, Goal-Setting, Empathy and Kindness, and Problem-Solving.  In addition, I am also available to meet with students individually or to lead small groups to address any other social, behavioral, or emotional need that a student might have.  I am available to parents/guardians to assist in helping in any way possible as well.  Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time!

In addition to the direct services I offer, I also lead several programs in our school.  Fannin County is blessed to have a Mentor Program which involves several adults from the community who volunteer to work with our students as Mentors.  They come weekly to meet with their mentee and do fun things with them. This is for extra support.  If you are interested in becoming a Mentor - do not hesitate to reach out!  I also assist with coordinating the Snack in a Backpack Program as well as the Character Education Program where students are honored monthly for attendance, behavior, and character.

As the Counselor, my job is to help your child in any way necessary and to help them be happy, comfortable, and safe at school.  Our goal is for all students to feel loved, important, and to love school and learning.  I tell the students I want you to be happy and successful in whatever that means to you!  If you ever need help or have any questions, please let me know!
